Release Manager, In-Market Engineering


EMC Isilon’s In-Market Engineering team is looking for a hands-on, passionate, results-oriented Program Manager to manage OneFS maintenance releases, campaigns, and other projects in support of the team’s mission. The In Market Engineering team’s mission is to address customer escalations, provide patches and maintenance releases to address customer issues and develop non-core product enhancements, tools and processes to ensure a high quality total customer experience with Isilon products. You’ll partner with a lead program manager to define release content, establish scoping and schedule, and ensure quality metrics are met.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to take on new responsibilities and has experience delivering software programs and/or software releases. This role is for a dynamic individual who wants to join an innovative, fast paced team located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, redefining the storage landscape in scalable storage.

  • Drive validation and certification activities in support of monthly maintenance releases to customers. Manage schedules and risk and guide teams to resolution as issues arise

  • Coordinate with external teams to communicate release scope, enable documentation development and make releases available to customer

  • Drive process improvements across the engineering organization to improve quality of software released to the field

  • Manage development campaigns focused around customer experience and supportability.

  • Lead projects to better gather and analyze data of the customers’ use of the product in the field.

  • Use best-in-class project management techniques to achieve project goals on time with a high level of quality, while managing expectations of stakeholders

  • Work collaboratively with other Program Managers and Engineering leaders toward common Engineering vision and goals

  • Drive the tracking and management of project schedules, risks and deliverables and proactively communicate progress across Engineering leaders and/or management


  • Knowledge of common project management tools and methodologies, including bug tracking systems

  • Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work effectively with Engineering teams

  • Results oriented with ability to adapt to changing priorities, focusing on highest business impact

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills effective across organizational levels and geographies

  • Knowledge and application of IT datacenter and storage concepts

  • 2-4 years of experience in a program or release management role with a demonstrated track record of delivery

  • Preferable: BS in Engineering/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
