EMC Principal Automation Engineer - Java/Automation in Seattle, Washington

Job Description:

Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) is looking for a hands-on, talented, innovative and practical individual with good programming experience. Working under limited direction in an Agile development environment, the ideal candidate will contribute to the development and execution of test automation and system testing for next generation Cloud Computing Solutions.


  • Successful candidates will work developing test automation software and defining and executing system level tests for an industry-leading enterprise level product

  • Execute given assignments in a self-directed manner, anticipate issues, and modify procedures as necessary

  • Effectively communicate progress and findings in oral and written formats

  • Follow standard engineering practices under the direction of others.

  • Demonstrate self-initiative and seek assistance when required

  • Contribute to development of new software engineering

  • methods or processes and re-evaluate existing processes

  • Develop test plans and tie test code into automation framework

  • Investigate issues that are found in product and test code and drive them to closure

  • Passion for cloud computing and distributed systems

  • Strong problem solving skills

Critical Hiring Criteria

  • Experience with Hadoop and Hadoop-related applications such as MapReduce, Hive, Pig, and HBase

  • Experience with securing Hadoop clusters

  • Experience with object storage systems

  • 5+ years of experience building systems software and test automation

  • Proficient at Java or C/C++ Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related fields
