Market Strategist – Customer Intelligence & Strategy – VCE Office of the CTO

As a member of the Customer Intelligence & Strategy team you will play a key role helping VCE maintain its market leadership in next generation Integrated Systems and Cloud Platforms. You will lead critical voice of the customer research programs and customer engagement programs, gathering customer requirements and analyzing market information, to develop strategic recommendations for executive leadership, and business line leaders in product management, marketing, sales, and services. You will work closely with our marketing and sales organizations providing customer insights, developing customer case studies and helping shape VCE’s value proposition and messaging. You will partner with other members of the Market Intelligence & Strategy Group and the CTO Office in cross-functional projects that drive business strategy. Members of the group have MBAs from top schools (Stanford, MIT, Columbia, INSEAD, USC), have consulting and Wall Street analyst backgrounds, and strong technology experience. This is a highly visible role that will offer significant exposure to VCE’s leadership.


  • Spearhead Voice of the Customer/Customer Experience research: create frameworks to solve complex business problems, and tap customer, field and partner intelligence to develop corporate strategy recommendations.

  • Lead customer engagement programs such as VCE’s Technical Advisory Board program: working with key internal constituencies, drive advisory sessions that help VCE capture customer requirements and help VCE deliver better products and services to the market.

  • Armed with a complete understanding of VCE and EMC’s portfolio of products, work closely with product, services and CTO office leadership to satisfy their needs for customer feedback and help determine product/services requirements – develop ad-hoc research studies to gather the required information, analyze the results and provide strategic recommendations.

  • Help prioritize sales and marketing efforts to address key customer requirements and opportunities.

  • Presents and markets the design and value of proposed VCE solution and business case to customers, prospects, and VCE management.

  • Posses detailed product./technology/industry knowledge of job associated software and applications.

Experience, Skills and Competencies Preferred

  • Market strategy experience in technology from a top tier strategy consulting firm, investment banking or equity analyst firms such as McKinsey, BCG, Morgan Stanley, Goldman, etc

  • Strong experience conducting customer experience research and programs

  • Strong experience in industry and market analysis, segmentation, sales and customer analysis in technology environments

  • Understanding of major software and hardware vendors, system integrators, VARs/ISVs.

  • Knowledge of Data Center architectures, Cloud Computing technologies data center virtualization consolidation, disaster recovery, backups, and networking, databases, reporting tools, middleware, security, monitoring and high availability systems


  • Bachelors (CS/EE/Technology) or equivalent and MBA from a top school strongly preferred.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking to large audiences. Thought leadership preferred.

  • Fast-paced decision making.

  • Able to prioritize projects and work seamlessly with various stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial bent with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-moving environment.

  • Able to analyze financial, sales, support and survey data for insight and trends.
