EMC Sr. Solution Engineer (Native Hybrid Cloud) in Cork, Ireland

Job Description:


The Dell EMC Global Solutions Engineering team is responsible for developing next generation solutions leveraging EMC and partner core products and platforms. We deliver systems that provide end to end solutions for IT infrastructures with a focus on Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Native Hybrid Cloud Developers Platform, Big Data, and End User Compute infrastructures for our customers. We architect, develop, test and document the complete solution stack, generally comprising but not limited to core EMC storage and data protection products, VMware, Virtustream, RSA and Pivotal as well as Open Source and third party applications.

We are looking for talented Cloud Engineers to ensure that systems are designed and implemented to the highest standards. You'll gain real, hands-on experience working with some the most in-demand technologies: Cloud, DevOps, SDS, SDN and more.

The primary role for solutions engineering is the technical implementation of complex, high profile solution initiatives.

Projects will often be developed with a rapid prototyping or proof-of concept approach. Ability and demonstrated experience working independently through complex issues is a must. The ideal candidate may come from a partner, IT Operations or DevOps environment.

This role is focused on accelerating delivery of our Native Hybrid Cloud Solution (NHC), which featured prominently at EMC World this year. NHC provides customers a turnkey PaaS solution for their Cloud Native developers on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), and will also serve Data Scientists with services for Big Data Analytics environments and applications.



General Description

  • Develop our cloud solutions to meet the business and customer requirements

  • Provide expertise in cloud technologies and cloud security to engineering and product management

  • Work closely with engineering and product management to define requirements for our cloud solutions

  • Work closely with technical writers to document solutions and provide subject matter expertise

  • Evaluate and recommend products for partnership, OEM, or acquisition

  • Participate in integration testing, beta programs and customer engagements

Required Skills

  • Strong VMware virtualization experience

  • Experience in infrastructure, systems design / support in an Enterprise environment

  • Linux Host management via CLI

  • Some knowledge of programming frameworks and scripting languages (Java, Ruby, Python, or PowerShell)

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and become an expert

  • Self-starter / self-manager with strong teamwork abilities

  • Confident in understanding requirements, acts on initiative to deliver

  • Strong written and verbal English skills

  • Detail oriented.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment

  • Understanding of broad technology areas and of industry trends.

  • Understanding of EMC Products, Solutions and Strategy

Strongly Desired Skills

  • Experience with using cloud management portals such as vRealize Automation, OpenStack, AWS, Azure

  • Networking / Security skills and experience

  • Experience in Openstack; to installation, config and management level

  • Experience in working in an Agile Scrum environment

  • Familiarity with the Cloud ecosystem, products and solutions

  • Strong product/technology/industry knowledge
