Sr. Engineering Director of Development

Reston, VA

RSA is looking for a dynamic engineering leader to lead its Advanced Security Operations Center Development Organization. The right candidate for this job builds a solid engineering culture, builds great teams, and knows how to craft multiple scrum teams towards a single goal. In addition to being a great leader, the right candidate will have a passion for security and how where the security space is headed. RSA’s Security Analytics product is a leader in the space and helps security professionals identify threats in their environment, investigate them, and understand the scope of any potential compromise.

Reporting directly to the VP, Products, This job requires a technical leader who is comfortable leading a large development organization working on a large multi-component product. A strong candidate will have experience managing remote teams and integrating them into a single team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering team in planning for and delivering all product release efforts including major releases, minor releases, and patches.

  • Build and recruit a talented engineering organization with a strong presence in the appropriate development areas

  • Provide overall mentorship to a team of 150 Developers across San Francisco, Reston VA, Bedford MA, and Bangalore, India. As well as network effectively with teams across multiple geographies.

  • Drive a culture of customer success by delivering a high quality, easy to use product that customers can deploy to meet their security needs.

  • Work with Technical staff, product management, sales, marketing and support to define roadmaps, translate customer requirements, and communicate product direction and implementation.

  • Drive decision-making processes to consensus and ensure that steps are taken to actual implementation of product roadmap.

  • Lead Agile Development teams and processes to deliver high quality software.

  • Participate in strategic planning and design sessions with Product Management, Engineering Management, Architects, and Operations.

  • Be a change agent for improving processes both local to the team and more broadly across the organization.

requirements and qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of building high performing development teams. Proven competence in hiring and managing high quality individual contributors and engineering managers. Components of managing include attracting top caliber people.

  • 12+ years of experience in developing organizations, with at least 3-5 years as a Sr. Director of Development in a medium to large software company. Experience must include running 80+ engineering organizations.

  • Management style that is aligned with the philosophy and evolving culture of the Company – a style that encourages team involvement in decision making, accountability, and pragmatism, which in this context can be defined as an attitude to approach and respond to opportunities and challenges in an open minded, flexible, and nimble fashion.

  • Experience with security products.

  • Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies.

  • Experience delivering and supporting a n enterprise product in the field.

  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as good interpersonal and organization skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent (required) ; Master’s degree in Computer Science or related (desired) Of overarching importance, the right candidate will:
